How big can a federation be?

While there is no limit to how large a federation can be, trust and interconnectedness tend to decrease as the size of a community increases. Larger federations will therefore will typically have additional guardians to mitigate risk.

As a general rule, users should hold resources in a federation in direct proportion to their level of trust in the community and its guardians.

Our vision is for every Fedi user to participate in multiple federations of varying sizes and degrees of trust. One of our values is "Be bullet-proof," and we believe that diversification is important for financial resiliency.
