To join a community, navigate to the Community tab on the bottom left of the screen. If you haven't joined any communities, you'll see the option to join public ones here.
If you have already joined a community, you can join additional ones by tapping the name of your active community at the top of the screen > Add community.
This will open the camera scanner, where you can either paste or scan a community invitation code. Alternatively, you can also view the public communities from here.
Note that Fedi does not endorse any of the communities listed on the Awesome Fedimint list, which are provided only as a resource; you join communities at your own risk.
After you scan/paste a community code or select a public community to join, you will be prompted to review the terms & conditions. Once you've done that, tap "I accept" to join the community.

How can we get in contact with local federations?
Great question! There are sites like Bitcoinmints and Fedimint Observer that provide information on publicly known federations.
That said, if federation administrators elect not to publish contact information for the federation, it will be difficult to get in touch with them.
For public federations, the best course of action would be to join the federation and refer to any announcements the admins might share in the community chat.
