How can I vet the guardians of the federations I use?

Federation configurations and levels of transparency can vary greatly from mint to mint. Some are open (members can invite others to join) while others are closed (only guardians can invite others to join).

Of those that are open, only a subset are publicly discoverable in the Fedi app or via sites like Bitcoinmints and Fedimint Observer. Lastly, even open, public federations may be run by entirely anonymous guardians.

Because guardian identities are not always known, it is not possible to vet the guardians of every federation. Therefore, it is important that you use federations in direct proportion to your level of trust in them.
