Why is my Fedi member code based on an npub?

An "npub" is a type of identifier used in Nostr, a decentralized social media protocol that allows users to create and share content without relying on centralized servers.

The npub identifier specifically refers to a user's unique public key, which allows other users to identify and interact with them - protecting against spoofing / impersonation.

By basing Fedi member codes on Nostr public keys, you can seamlessly zap (pay) users on Nostr directly from your Fedi wallet by simply adding a Nostr client like Primal to your Mods page.

This decision also forms the basis for greater interoperability between Fedi and Nostr in the future, including the ability to import an existing Nostr identity into Fedi during onboarding.
