An unfederated mint, or solo mint, just means that one individual or entity is solely managing a single fedimint server.
Unfederated mints are the most straightforward and least expensive to set up, but they are also the least resilient and secure as complete trust is being placed in a single guardian and single fedimint server.
Even if the guardian is not malicious but their server goes offline for any reason, such as a software update or internet outage, access to the mint is immediately lost until the server is brought back online.
