To create a Multispend group, you must be a member of a federation that supports Multispend and an Admin of a private, non Broadcast-only chat group. If these conditions are met, navigate to the chat group's settings and select Multispend > Create Multispend on the following screen.
On the next screen, select a Multispend-enabled federation to link your group's funds to. If a federation does not support Multispend, it will be clearly noted and you will not be able to move forward.
Next, tap Assign Voters to choose which group members will be able to vote on whether or not to approve spend requests. Note that at least 2 assigned voters are required to initiate the creation of a Multispend group and that all voters must approve the group for it to be created successfully.
Once you've selected the voters, tap Confirm to return to the previous screen. The last step is to set an approval threshold, meaning how many assigned voters need to approve a spend request before the funds can be successfully withdrawn. Once you have set the approval threshold, tap Submit.
This concludes your role as the initiator of the Multispend group, but the group is not final until all assigned voters approve its creation. See How does a Multispend group get approved? for more on that.
Lastly, some notes to keep in mind:
- You as the group creator are an assigned voter by default; you cannot remove yourself as a voter. What's more, voters cannot be changed after the creation of the Multispend group has started.
- While there is no limit to the number of members a Multispend group can have, there can be no more than 21 assigned voters, and therefore the approval threshold cannot exceed 21 voters.
- New non-voting members can be added to the chat group any time after the associated Multispend group is created, but all voters must be assigned during the Multispend group creation.
- Assigned voters of a Multispend group cannot leave or be removed from the associated chat group regardless of their level. For example, Admins can't remove Members who are also Voters.
