How do I make a Stable Balance payment?

You can make Stable Balance payments or send funds to other Fedians either via chat in a direct chat (DM) conversation or to their Reusable Payment code.

Sending via DM

To send Stable Balance funds to another Fedian via chat, navigate to the Wallet tab, select the relevant Wallet Service you'd like to send from & toggle from Bitcoin to USD (or other display currency). Next, tap ↑ Send to bring up the Send USD screen.

On that screen, select To User in the horizontal bar > tap Select receiver > find the person by searching their username or choosing them from your contacts. Enter the amount you want to send, then tap Send.

Review the details on the confirmation screen, and add a note if you want. Once satisfied, tap Transfer to complete the payment. You will see Transferred! to confirm the payment is on its way. Plus, you can also navigate to the existing conversation and see a green payment bubble with all the payment info.

Paying a Reusable Payment Code

If someone has shared their Stable Balance payment code with you, tap the Scan/Paste central button and scan or paste it. Fedi will recognize the code, ask whether you want to pay it, and open the Send USD transfer screen with the recipient already filled in.

Next, enter the amount you'd like to send denominated in fiat > tap Send > review the details & add a note to the transaction if desired > tap Transfer once satisfied. Once completed, the Stable Balance transfer will appear in your transaction history as Sent.

Keep in mind that Stable Balance transfers are similar to eCash transfers in the way that they are Wallet Service-specific, so if the recipient of a payment is not in your federation, they will need to first join the federation in order to claim the funds.
