What's New in Fedi 26.10.3

Fedi v26.10.3 has been released! This is the most updated version of the Fedi app.

Here's a quick rundown of all the changes:

New

  • Cancel an eCash send that hasn't been claimed – open the send in your transaction history and tap Cancel Send. Unclaimed eCash goes back to your balance; if the recipient already claimed it, the app tells you so.
  • Federation notices now appear on the Wallet screen, right under your wallet's name.
  • Links in pinned messages and in a federation's welcome message can now be tapped. Links to places in Fedi open in the app; other links open in your browser.
  • Mini apps can ask for a private key of their own – Fedi asks you first with Share a private key?, and each mini app gets a separate key. You can also require your PIN for this under Mini App private keys in your PIN settings. See How do I enable PIN access for added security?
  • Mini apps can save files to your device – you choose where to save them.

Improved

  • Clearer federation status – while the app is open, it checks your connection to the federation's guardians and tells you whether all of them are connected, some aren't responding, or payments may not go through. The status stays green as long as enough guardians are online. See How can I see the status of a federation?
  • On-chain sends now show the minimum amount while you enter it, instead of failing at confirmation.
  • Receiving eCash in chat from a federation you haven't joined now tells you what to do next, with a Retry button if the sender's federation can't be reached.
  • Private group chats in a space that you can't preview now explain that you can request to join.
  • Members who left a federation can rejoin it even when it isn't accepting new members.

Fixed

  • Fixed a crash that stopped the app from opening on iPhones running iOS 15 to iOS 17.
  • Fixed an issue that could stop the app from connecting to a federation after the federation was upgraded.
  • Chat fixes: the chat list no longer jumps while you scroll, the new-messages button stays in place, a message that fails to send no longer loses your draft, and encrypted group chats are no longer shown as empty.
  • Invite links to spaces and federations now open reliably – the preview no longer keeps reloading, and you no longer see "Invalid invite code" over an invite that loaded fine.
  • On iPhone, tapping the middle of the Send button in a chat now sends your message.
  • When a Lightning payment fails and is refunded, your balance now shows the returned funds right away.
