You can receive a payment or request funds either via the Home tab or in a direct chat (DM) conversation.
From the Home Tab
To request funds from the Home tab, navigate to the federation wallet you'd like to receive to & tap Receive on your Bitcoin balance to bring up the Request Money screen. If on-chain deposits are supported, you can use the arrows (◃▹) at the top to choose if you'd like to receive via Lightning or On-chain.
If supported, you can also tap the Lightning Bolt icon in the upper right corner to receive via LNURL. Lastly, if receiving eCash in the form of a QR code, such as when someone sends funds offline, you can tap the Scanner icon also in the upper right corder to scan the QR code representing the eCash notes.
Lightning
If requesting funds via Lightning, enter the amount you'd like to receive in either sats or fiat > add a note if desired > tap Request X SATS at the bottom to generate an invoice. On the next screen, the person paying you can either scan the QR code shown or you can tap Share or Copy to send the invoice to them.
If you send them the invoice in a Fedi direct chat, it will show as payment request that the person paying you can complete by tapping Pay. Note that Lightning invoices generated on Fedi expire 24 hours after creation. If an invoice is not paid within 24 hours, you will have to create and share a new one with the payer.
Note that some popular exchanges like Binance have trouble recognizing Fedi Lightning invoices as they contain a robust amount of data and are therefore longer than invoices generated by other Lightning-enabled wallets. In these instances, you should transfer funds to Fedi from these platforms on-chain.
On-Chain
If requesting funds on-chain, a fresh wallet address will be generated as soon as you toggle from Lighting to On-chain. Add a note if desired and either have the person paying you scan the QR code shown or tap Share or Copy to send them the address. As a best practice, always generate a new address for each deposit.
Note that Fedi only monitors wallet addresses for incoming funds for 24 hours after they are generated, so be sure that funds are sent within 24 hours from address creation. Also keep in mind that deposits need 11 confirmations before they are credited to your balance, which may take up to several hours.
If funds are sent to the new address more than 24 hours from creation or if the funds have yet to be credited to your balance after 11 confirmations, you can restart monitoring of the address and refresh the transaction status by navigating to the specific event in your transaction history and tapping Check incoming funds.
LNURL
If the selected federation supports it, you can also receive via LNURL (represented by a Lightning Bolt icon at the top right of the Request Money screen). Selecting this option generates a static Lightning payment code that can be used to receive repeat payments to the relevant federation wallet as often as needed.
Unlike Lightning invoices, LNURL payment codes are reusable and do not expire. Simply have the person paying you scan the QR code shown or tap Share or Copy to send them the payment code directly.
In a Direct Chat (DM)
eCash
To request a chat payment, start a direct chat with the person you'd like to request from or navigate to your existing chat. From here, tap the wallet icon at the bottom left of the text box to show the payment screen.
Enter the amount you'd like to receive denominated in sats or fiat > confirm the federation wallet you'd like to receive to > add a note to the transaction if desired > tap Request. The payment request does not expire, but you can cancel the request at any time until it is either paid or rejected by the prospective sender.
Because chat payments done using eCash and you are requesting funds to a specific federation wallet, the prospective sender must already be a member of your federation in order to complete the payment request.
That said, someone may still pay you from a federation you do not belong to without you first requesting the funds. If you receive an unprompted chat payment from a federation you are not a member of, you will have the option to either join the federation and accept the eCash or reject the payment altogether.
In the case where you receive foreign eCash from a closed federation where members do not have the ability to invite others, you will not see the option to join the federation and accept the payment.
