If you find yourself without internet access, you can still receive funds while offline by claiming eCash notes that have been proactively issued by the sender.
To do this, simply navigate to the Scan tab to bring up your Fedi omni-scanner and either scan the dynamic QR code or paste the associated payment token shared with you by the sender.
You will then see a pop-up asking you if you would like to redeem the eCash token. Tap Continue to proceed, and select Receive X SATS on the following screen.
If you are indeed offline (as this process can also be done while online), you will see a note on the subsequent screen informing you that the payment has been received but is pending.
Keep in mind that while the exchange of eCash notes can happen entirely offline, you will need to come back online for the transaction to settle and the funds to be spendable. If you do not connect to the internet and open the Fedi app within 3.5 days, the sats will be refunded back to the sender's balance.
Also note that since offline transfers use eCash, you can only receive funds while offline from members of your same federation. If the eCash token is from a federation you do not belong to (foreign eCash), you will need to first join the federation in order to claim the funds – which is not possible while offline.
If you are connected to the internet during this process, you will be able to join the federation and claim the foreign eCash just like when you receive a chat payment from a federation you do not belong to.
