How do I provision a Fedimint server using my own hardware?

Fedimint is an open-source project with a number of deployment options, including Docker, NixOS, running the binaries directly, and more. A federation's fedimint servers can also be hosted using a combination of your own hardware and a cloud hosting provider like Linode, DigitalOcean, or AWS if desired.

If you want to run a federation entirely on your own hardware, the Fedimint developers recommend using Docker in most cases. Fedimint provides a downloader script that walks you through the process of downloading Docker; selecting and configuring the services; and starting the fedimint servers.

For more technical users who prefer a declarative approach, Fedimint also provides a NixOS module that integrates cleanly into standard NixOS workflows and offers advanced configuration benefits.
