Getting started on Fedi is easy. Simply download the Fedi mobile app from either the App Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android). Alternatively, you can also install the Android app from the APK.
- Open the app and tap Get started. If you are returning to Fedi and want to recover an existing profile, tap Restore access instead.
- The app asks whether you came from a Fedi link. If you did not, you land on the Wallet tab on the Set up your wallet screen. Your wallet is run by a federation – a group that keeps your funds secure.
- Tap Auto-Select to let Fedi join a federation for you, or tap Manual to choose one yourself. The Discover tab displays publicly known federations (tap Join next to one), the Join tab allows you to scan or paste an invite code for any federation (publicly known or not), and the Create tab lets you start your own federation.
Once you've joined a federation, the Wallet tab displays your bitcoin balance and your fiat Stable Balance (if enabled for the federation). To really start making the most out of Fedi, you'll want to fund your bitcoin balance from an external source to receive eCash. From there, start exploring the app via the tabs at the bottom of the screen:
- Chat – Tap + to start a chat with a friend by scanning or pasting their Fedi chat code, or to create a public or private group that you can invite friends to later.
- Scan/Paste (center button) – Opens the omni-scanner, which allows you to scan or paste federation or space invite codes, bitcoin addresses or Lightning invoices, & chat invite codes for friends or public groups.
- Mini Apps – Explore mini apps suggested by Fedi or hide the ones you don't need. Tap the + at the top right of the screen to add your own mini apps by pasting or entering a URL.
- Spaces – Join or create spaces: social areas that house related chat groups and suggested mini apps.

Hey folks, we need to make edits to this doc.
1. The “mods” are outdated and have since been replaced by “Mini-Apps” which I like better.
2. Line 11: Tap the Chat tab > Blue + … (there's no blue +), instead the + in on the top right corner of the app.
